Fall brings a splash of color to all regions of the state and Colorado State Parks offer the perfect landscapes to enjoy the fleeting beauty of the season. No matter where you are in Colorado there’s a state park nearby and fall colors await.  Break out your camera, pack a picnic, and head to a state park near you to capture the colors of the season.

Fall Color Hikes for 2009

Absorb the colors of autumn while hiking the scenic trails at Mueller State Park. Beginning on Sept. 18, the park will host naturalist-guided aspen hikes for visitors to view the spectacular gold colors. With more than 50 miles of trails, Mueller State Park offers a variety of hikes, from leisurely walks to challenging climbs.

 

The Grouse Mountain Overlook trail is a .8 mile hike that guides visitors to the highest point in the park (9,843 feet) and provides spectacular views of Pikes Peak and the Sangre de Cristo Range. The Outlook Ridge Trail leads to the Raven Ridge Overlook, with rock outcroppings that offer amazing color viewing opportunities.
