Natural Areas Information

Designated Natural Areas contain a wide representation of Colorado’s rare plants and animals, unique plant communities, rich fossil locations, and geological features. These sites are located on private, state and federal lands, so access is at the discretion of the property owner. On some areas, access is restricted to better protect the irreplaceable natural values; on others, we encourage visitation to learn about and enjoy Colorado’s best natural features.

Natural Area information is available in a variety of ways: lists are available by map, by alphabetical list, by county or by feature.
