The Trinidad K-T Boundary Natural Area contains significant evidence of an asteroid impact that caused mass extinction of dinosaurs and other life forms at the end of the Cretaceous Period 65 million years ago. It contains the best surface exposure of Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) boundary in Colorado and possibly the world.
