Raptor Monitoring Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers are instrumental to the monitoring the significant features within our parks. Raptor volunteering requires dedication, identification skills, consistent and keen observation skills in all types of weather and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and email.
We are not currently recruiting volunteers, but please let us know if you are interested and what part of the state you are in.
Current Volunteers:
Nesting Season:
- Locate nests and record GPS locations.
- Visit nests bi-weekly according to species schedule.
- Record species, behavior and activities in an excel spreadsheet.
- Email spreadsheet to Stewardship biweekly.
Winter Monitoring:
- Visit pre-determined winter monitoring points bi-weekly.
- Record species, behavior and activities in an excel spreadsheet.
- Email spreadsheet to Stewardship biweekly.
More responsibilities are coming soon:
- We are at 9 parks and will expand to new parks slowly!
- We always need help compiling spreadsheets and performing data entry and analysis.
- If experienced, we need to do some owl surveys and goshawk surveys.
