Snowmobile Program
Snowmobiling at St Forest

Colorado’s Snowmobile Registration fees provide funding for more than 2,700 miles of groomed and marked winter trails that are open to all winter enthusiasts.

Colorado State Parks has managed the Snowmobile Program since its inception in 1977.  Through a longstanding partnership between Colorado State Parks and the Colorado Snowmobile Association (CSA), this program has grown substantially over the years.

The Snowmobile Program also funds the Snowmobile Safety Certification Program for young operators, helps support the avalanche warning system and provides for patrol services to ensure safe snowmobiling and registration compliance. Visit the Snowmobile Safety page for more information.

Snowmobile Registrations: Colorado residents registering a new vehicle, renewing a registration, or obtaining a permit for out-of-state vehicles (nonresidents) helps fund trail grooming, trailheads, parking areas, trail signs, maps, and new grooming equipment. Snowmobiles must be registered with Colorado State Parks’ Snowmobile Program.

Where to Ride Snowmobiles
Browse our Where to Ride page and also visit the Colorado Snowmobile Association's site. The trail grooming and conditions report site on Colorado Sled City is updated weekly during the winter season and is very popular for planning trail activities.
Snowmobile Safety Certification Course
Colorado State Parks recommends safety training for everyone who operates a snowmobile.  You do not have to own a machine in order to take the course. For more information, visit the Snowmobile Safety page.
