Some big walleye (18-20")and a 22" wiper have been caught by the dam. Worms are working really well and are available at the Nature Center. Please stay off the concrete portions of the dam. If you're using minnows make sure they're purchased from a bait dealer and you have your receipt with you dated no more than 7 days prior to your coming out to fish. Make sure you have a valid fishing license (now available at the nature Center) and park pass and good luck!

An easy 1.3-mile walk from the Nature Center brings you to the Gazebo Boardwalk, where you can get an excellent view of the eagle's nest and the rookery using a spotting scope. The road across the top of the dam (Crest Trail) is open to hikers and bicyclists except on Wednesdays and Saturdays from October through February 9th due to hunting. Ice Fishing
-
5/2/2013 |
Barr Lake is a great place to try ice fishing close to Denver when conditions allow. There is currently no ice. The best times to fish are early morning & late in the evening. Perch are biting near the dam and trout are biting near the boat ramp; please always use caution when going on the ice and stay off the concrete portions of the dam. Worms and minnows seem to the best bet- make sure your minnows are purchased from a bait dealer and you have your receipt with you dated no more than 7 days prior to your coming out to fish. Make sure you have a valid fishing license and park pass and good luck!
Always use caution on the ice and bring a buddy or tell someone where you're going.
