The Friends of Castlewood Canyon State Park

This group formed to support and promote Castlewood Canyon by raising funds to; preserve and enhance the park’s natural and recreational resources, protect its boundaries, increase public awareness, and to enhance educational and interpretive activities which increase understanding and public appreciation of the park.

Click here for a Friends of Castlewood Canyon State Park Application Form. The Friends group operates under a cooperative agreement with the Colorado Division of Parks and meets regularly with the Park Manager and the rangers.

Projects include; land acquisition to protect park boundaries, supplies for the park’s environmental education and volunteer naturalist programs. Also, community outreach and public advocacy to protect the park and its environments.

A Friends Success Story!
The Friends of Castlewood Canyon State Park scored its first major victory by successfully raising $100,000 and convincing the Colorado Division of Parks and Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) to commit $1.35 million to purchase 397 acres immediately bordering the park.
