Picnicking at Chatfield State Park Numerous picnic sites with tables and grills are located throughout the park. Both group and individual sites are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, but group sites at Marina Point, Riverside, Henronry Overlook and Fox Run, may be reserved by calling the park office at (303) 791-7275. Group Picnic Sites - Available by Reservation Only
- Marina Point: This facility is located west of the so
uth boat ramp area. This site can be reserved May 1 through Sept. 30. Its facilities include spaces for 125 people, electrical outlets, two group grills, 10 tables, one hydrant water fountain, flush toilets, poles for a volleyball net and horseshoe pits.
- Riverside: This facility is located west of the sout

- Heronry Overlook:
This facility overlooks the nesting trees for great blue herons south of the reservoir. This site can be reserved from May 1 through Sept. 30. Its facilities include shelters, one covered platform shelter, 15 tables, two group grills, space for 350 people, one hydrant fountain, vault toilets, poles for a volleyball net and horseshoe pits.
- Fox Run: This facility is near the shoreline located on the
southwest (no wake) portion of the reservoir. This site can be reserved May 1 through Sept. 30. Its facilities include space for 75 people, eight tables, two group grills, one hydrant for water, two portable toilets, poles for a volleyball net and horseshoe pits. Fees and Registration The fee for Marina Point and Riverside is $90. The Heronry Overlook look fee is $60, and Fox Run is $30. These fees cover the first 50 people in a group. There is an additional fee of 50 cents per person for groups over 50. There is also a $8 reservation fee. Reservations can be made beginning January 1.
On the day of the picnic, a ranger will inspect the picnic site with the organizer and review park rules and regulations. After the picnic -- the same day -- a final inspection will be performed. The organizer is responsible for clean up and any damage that might incur. For more information, contact the park office.
