This beautiful property is not open for public use at this time.
Colorado State Parks and the City of Colorado Springs are working hard on the management plan, which will guide the stewardship and use of the property.
We thank you for your patience as we continue our thoughtful planning process!
Top of Cheyenne Mountain Planning Process
The recent acquisition of almost 1,000 acres directly west of Cheyenne Mountain State Park by Colorado State Parks, the City of Colorado Springs, and Great Outdoors Colorado has created an outstanding opportunity for residents and visitors to the Pike's Peak Region. Not only does it provide stunning views and an outstanding visual backdrop to Colorado Springs, the property creates an impressive addition of public open space within the proximity of a major urban area and provides possibilities for increased recreational offerings as well as possible future trail linkages and access to other nearby public properties.
In order to properly guide the stewardship, use and preservation of the property, a management plan is required. We are in the middle of the planning process at this time. We have just completed the public input portion and are looking forward to the environmental assessment portion in the summer of 2009. Click here for the Planning Process Timeline.
Throughout the planning process, there are certain constraints that can not be changed or avoided. These constraints have been named, "The Givens." These givens play an important role in the decision-making portion of this process.
