Cell Phone Coverage

Cell phone coverage in the Golden Gate Canyon State Park area is very limited and unreliable. Signals are not received along Golden Gate Canyon Road or in the lower end of the Park, including the Visitor Center. Some coverage can be obtained in parts of the Reverend's Ridge Campground- dependant on provider. There is no internet coverage in the park or campgrounds. Payphones are located at the Visitor Center and Reverend's Ridge Campground office.

Fire Restrictions

There are no current fires restrictions park-wide. As always, wood and charcoal fires are allowing in permanently constructed grates in developed picnic areas and campgrounds in Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Propane stoves are also permitted.

Fishing Report

Golden Gate Canyon State Park offers five fishing ponds open year-round to all park visitors. The ponds are Kriley, Slough, Ranch Ponds East and West, and Dude's Fishing Hole. Each angler is allowed four fish per day with eight being the maximum number in possession.The Park does not determine the thickness of the ice on our ponds during winter. Ice fishing is at your own risk.
No live baits are allowed with the exception of worms.

Hunting

Hunting season in the park opened on Tuesday September 4, 2012. Hunting is NEVER permitted in the Gilpin County side of the park.
ALL hunters must sign the hunter log book, located in the Visitor Center prior to hunting. The log is kept on the Visitor Center deck outside of office hours.
The park allows a maximum of 35 hunters per day.

There are multiple entrance routes to Golden Gate Canyon State Park. Nine self-pay kiosks are located throughout the park for your convenience. Passes and permits can also be purchased at our Visitor Center and at Reverend's Ridge Campground Office during business hours.

Seasonal Closures

Mountain Base Road is open for public travel at this time and will remain open for the summer season, weather permitting. The Aspen Meadow campground is closed. The shower house, laundry, dump station, and all campground loops apart from A and C at Reverend's Ridge campground remain closed.

Thirty-five miles of trails await you. Come and explore! Please be sure to check trail restrictions, some trails are for hiking only, while others are open to multiple use. There is no motorized use allowed on any of the trails.
