Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't my National Parks Pass Card get me in for free?
Highline Lake State Park is not a National Park. It is a Colorado State Park so National Parks Passes do not apply.

Why is it so expensive?
Colorado State Parks do not receive tax monies from Colorado residents. Most of the funds for the parks come from their own revenues or Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) funding collected from a portion of lottery sales. If you think about it, $25 (a vehicle pass plus a summer campsite fee for one night) is cheaper than most hotel rooms and you can have up to 6 people in your campsite for no additional charge. In addition, there is access to swimming, hiking, biking, boating, and the chance to see some wildlife.
