Boat ramps are closed until March 15. Required ANS inspections start March 15.

Lake is closed to boating.
Camping

All the sites in the Lake Hasty Campground are open but part of the campground will close November 1 for the annual bald eagle roosting habitat. Potable water, port-a-john and dump station is all available at Lake Hasty Campground. Camper Services building has closed until spring.
Fire Restrictions

Fire danger low. Fires only allowed in designated grills and fire rings in the State Park. Use of propane stoves and grills is also permitted.
Fishing Report

Not many people fishing this time of year. DOW stocked Lake Hasty with 5000 catchable trout the first week of November. Most of Lake Hasty's ice has broken up, and can now be fished.
Hunting

No hunting is permitted on the state park but is available on the John Martin State Wildlife Area just minutes from our Lake Hasty Campground. John Martin is a great place for your hunting camp! About 3000 Snow Geese and several thousand ducks on the reservoir.

Ice is very unsafe and is now given way to mostly open water. Please continue to stay off.
Road Conditions

The road to the boat ramps, Catch and Fry, and the Point Campground are closed for the Corp of Engineers Waterfowl closure. We ask that all visitors remain on maintained roads within the park, especially in the burned area. OHV riding is NOT permitted on John Martin Reservoir State Park or on the adjoining John Martin Reservoir State Wildlife Area. Corps of Engineers currently has the road across the dam closed.
Seasonal Closures

For the annual waterfowl closure, the gate to the boat ramps and Catch and Fry is currently closed, but will open early this early on Feb. 13. The gate to the Wildlife area near the visitor center is currently open. Due to budget cuts, visitor center is open when personnel are available. Call ahead at 719-829-1801 to see if someone is available. Registrations and annuals can be purchased from the ranger on duty. Swimbeach is closed for the year.

Winter Conditions

Bald eagles and Golden Eagles are currently in the area for your viewing enjoyment. Several thousand snow geese are also residing at the reservoir.
