Only 15 miles from the town of Ouray, Ridgway's great outdoors - the "Switzerland of America" - welcomes those from near and far. The park’s popular campgrounds, beautiful reservoir, picnic and playground areas, extensive trails, and diverse wildlife offer year-round activities for all types of outdoor enthusiasts. While the swim beach is now closed for swimming or wading due to very low water levels, you can still come and enjoy the beach area.
Winter in the park is beautiful...There is abundant wildlife viewing, including bald eagles, all the trails are open (we recommend warm outdoor gear), camping is available year-round with a heated flush restroom or plan a getaway in one of the heated Yurts with electricity, microwave and fridge (reservable year-round), or shop and learn at our Visitor Center with interpretive displays and bookstore.
There is so much to see and do in this peaceful, sunny, beautiful spot of Colorado. Come and enjoy it!
The BOAT RAMP is CLOSED for the season and will not reopen until March 15, 2010 in an effort to prevent the spread of invasive Aquatic Nuisance Species. Please contact he park office for more information.
Whether enjoying the park or a neighboring attraction, there’s no shortage of activities to partake in. With late summer now here, you can hike or bike, boat, fish, go kayaking or go wind surfing.
