One of the true jewels of Colorado, Steamboat Lake State Park has something special for everyone.  Whatever your preference, well-deserved relaxation and recreation awaits you.

We are very fortunate that our logging projects have been completed ahead of schedule, and are now running all our campsites as normal.  Please see our Conditions page for more information.

Hahn's Peak frames the breathtaking scenery of this premier park offering family fishing, camping, picnicking, trail and boating recreational opportunities.  A full-service Marina and swim beach provide amenities for active water play.

Winter comes alive with snowmobiling, ice fishing, and peaceful cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing in a valley surrounded by snow-capped mountains.  Ten camper cabins down by the Marina welcome adventurers for a cozy night.

Winter Recreation

With between 300 and 600" of snow annually, Steamboat Lake offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities in a winter-wonderland valley surrounded by pristine mountains.

We have 1,100 surface-acres of ice for fishing, a marked snowshoe loop, over 4 miles of groomed non-motorized ski trail, and access to 145 miles of groomed snowmobile trail.  We also have electrical hookups available in the Marina parking lot ($20/night), and 10 camper cabins, (information available here).

You may view our Winter Recreation brochure by clicking here.  Ski trails are usually groomed Saturday mornings and soon after significant snowfall.  Our most current grooming report for area snowmobile trails is available here. You may also view up-to-the-hour weather and snow history for Steamboat Lake by clicking here, courtesy of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

Also, please be very careful when accessing iced over water as falling through can be fatal.  Please click here for information on ice safety.

Camping

Camping at Steamboat Lake offers a spectacular opportunity to immerse yourself in clean, crisp air and true Rocky Mountain living.

Reservations for our campsites are highly recommended and may be made 6 months in advance, with a first reservable date of May 27th, 2010.  Online reservations for Steamboat Lake may be made by clicking here. *NEW* For detailed campsite information please click here.  Our camper cabins are open and reservable by contacting the Steamboat Lake Marina at 970-879-7019 or through their website by clicking here

The campgrounds at Steamboat Lake and Pearl Lake were closed as of 10/16/2008 due to falling tree danger and logging projects as a result of the Mountain Pine Beetle epidemic.  These projects were completed in August, and we are running all campgrounds as normal.

We will still be cutting more trees along Tombstone and around the edges of the campgrounds, but none of this should result in significant closures.

Please click here for our most updated camping information.

The staff here at Steamboat Lake want to recognize the life of John Fetcher, age 97, who died on 02/06/09.  Among many other accomplishments, John was instrumental in the founding of Steamboat Lake and Stagecoach State Parks.  He was an outstanding individual and an outstanding citizen; we are saddened by his passing and will miss him very much.  Please click here for a Steamboat Pilot article about his life.
