Sweitzer Lake is home to waterfowl, fox, pheasants, rabbits, shore birds, deer, raccoon, Gambel’s quail, raccoon.
 
The native upland vegetation communities at Sweitzer Lake State Park include greasewood shrublands, mat saltbush shrublands, xeric shrublands, emergent wetlands, wet meadows, riparian shrublands and riparian woodlands.
