Vega State Park has three boat ramps. If water levels are low, some of the ramps may be closed. Refer to the Conditions Page for closures. All boats on trailers are required to be inspected for Aquatic Nuisance Species before entering the lake and can be completed by inspectors at the front entrance. Hours of inspection times will vary by season; check the Conditions Page for hours. For more information, please call (970)487-3407.
Cabins and Yurts

Vega's five cabins are available year-round and offer a great starting point for exploring the top of Grand Mesa or recreating in the park. The cozy wooden cabins sleep a maximum of six and have heat, a microwave and small refrigerator. See the Cabins section of Vega's Web site for complete details and reservation information. Cabins are available year-round and may be reserved by calling 1-800-678-2267.
Camper Services Building

Located in the Early Settlers campground, the Camper Services Building is available for all campers and visitors and includes ADA accessible restrooms, heated showers (for people with camping permit), a calling card phone, covered picnic area, fish cleaning station and playground. Refer to the Conditions page for closure dates.
Campgrounds

The park’s 109 campsites in 3 different campgrounds surround Vega Reservoir. Campsites range from pull-through sites with electric and water hookups in the Early Settler's Campground to 10 walk-in tent sites in the Pioneer Campground. Campgrounds are open mostly during summer months, with some sites kept open year round by appointment only. The Pioneer cabins are available year-round. An RV Dump Station for park users with a valid camping permit is located just north of the Visitors Center in the south-west corner of the park. The dump station is available for Vega State Park campers who have a valid camping permit and daily pass. Check the conditions page for seasonal closures.
Fishing Piers

The handicap-accessible fishing pier is located near the Oak Point Boat Ramp on the northeast side of Vega Reservoir. There is plenty of parking, picnic area and a vault toilet. The pier provides a great birding spot as well to view the shoreline and the visiting ospreys.
Group Picnic Area

Meadows Group Picnic Area, a reservations-only group picnic area, accommodates groups of up to 100. This area rents for only $60 per day (9 AM to 9 PM) plus a $10 reservation fee. It has parking, a covered shelter, plenty of picnic tables and food serving counters, group barbecue grills, and a large meadow for sports such as softball, volleyball, and horse shoes. Since there is high demand for the group pavilion in the summer months, call the park office at (970)487-3407 to reserve this area for your family reunion, office party or wedding.
Horse Trailer Parking

Horse trailer parking is available at the Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) and snowmobile staging area located in the southwest corner of the park, with easy access to hundreds of miles of Grand Mesa trails via USFS Road #262 (Park Creek Road). For more information on horse trails visit the "Grand Mesa National Forest" link available under the "Local Attractions" link on the left side of Vega's main page. Horse corrals are available to rent near the Vega Pioneer Cabins. Call the park office at (970)487-3407 to make reservations. The cost to rent the horse corrals is $10 per animal, per night, plus a one time $10 reservation fee.
Picnic Sites

Many individual picnic sites with tables and BBQ grills are available on a first-come first-served basis. The more popular picnic sites are located at the Overlook Area and Cattleman's Meadows on the south side of the lake, and the Turtle Shell and Island Areas on the north side of the lake. A group picnic area for up to 100 people can be reserved by calling (970)487-3407.
Playground

A playground is located adjacent to the Camper Services Building located in the Early Settler's Campground. Old-fashioned swingsets are located at the Island and Oak Point Campgrounds.
Showers

The ADA accessible hot showers in the Campers Services Building are available to all campers. A valid camping permit and vehicle park pass is required for each group of 6 people to use the shower building. The showers are coin-operated, and a change machine is available at the Camper Services building.
Stables or Corrals

Conveniently located behind the Pioneer cabins, the Vega horse corrals are available for reservations by calling the park at (970)487-3407. There is a charge of $10 per head per night plus a $10.00 reservation fee. No water is available at the corrals; bring a bucket or a 100 foot minimum hose to fill the stock tank, which is provided. All hay fed on Colorado State Parks or U.S. Forest Service land must be certified weed-free.
Visitor Center

Located just south of the Vega Dam, the park's Visitor Center features outstanding displays and exhibits describing the history, wildlife, and recreational opportunities available in the area. Also inside the Visitor Center is a Rocky Mountain Nature Association (www.rmna.org) sales outlet for nature and history books, maps, shirts, jackets, souvenirs and gifts. The Visitor Center opens at 8am 7 days a week. Friday and Saturday evenings the Visitor Center will be opened until 8:30 pm for sales and with exciting family programs. Colorado OHV, snowmobile, and boat registrations along with fishing and hunting licenses can also be purchased at the Visitor Center.
Wedding Facilities

Make reservations up to a year in advance for the Meadows Group Picnic Shelter, by calling Vega State Park. This large covered area rents for only $60 plus a $10 reservation fee. It is conveniently located near the lake and the Aspen Grove Campground and will accommodate up to 100 people for weddings, company picnics, family reunions, etc. For more information and to make reservations, call the Vega State Park office at (970)487-3407.
