Winter recreation enthusiasts come to Vega for ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, sledding and snow play. The snowmobiling/OHV staging area gives snowmobilers access to hundreds of miles of trails on the Grand Mesa National Forest. Check out Vega's OHV/Snowmobiling page for additional information.
Ice fishing usually starts in late December or early January and lasts until early March. Make a weekend of it by staying in one of our cozy cabins!
Check out the new 2.32-mile cross-country ski trail! This trail has varying slopes and is groomed when conditions allow. This trail starts at the Visitor Center, where you will want to stop in and check out our Rocky Mountain Nature Association Bookstore before starting your trek.
