Boat Ramps - 5/22/2012

All ramps are open at this time. There is still road damage at Maybell Bridge at this time.

Camping - 5/22/2012

The Campground at Yampa River Headquarters is open for dry camping only at this time. Electric sites are $20/day and tent sites are $16/day. Coin operated showers and laundry facilities are available for camper convenience. The shower and laundry facilities are closed at this time.

Fire Restrictions - 5/22/2012

There are no fire restrictions at this time. Remember, open fires allowed only in the established fire pits at the State Park Public access sites. Please use established fire pits and be sure all fires are extinguished when you leave.

Fishing Report - 5/22/2012

The Yampa river is accessible through the Headquarters location. A fishing license and daily park's pass is required. The Yampa is fishing very good in the Hayden and Steamboat areas. As temperatures increase productivity will increase in the Craig area as well. The river has reached peak flows early and has started to drop. Clarity is very good and will only get better. Fishing in the Hayden area has been productive for trout and a few pike. The trout are hitting steamers and big nymphs with a little surface activity. The pike are chasing those same streamers, so Rapalas or any leach/minnow imitation should produce a few fish. Water levels are dropping so get out early this year. The pond at Yampa River Headquarters has been stocked with Pike and is fishing well; you will need a fishing license and parks pass to fish the pond.

Park Entrance - 5/22/2012

Yampa River State Park Headquarters office is open 8:00am - 4:30pm Mon - Fri. and on Weekends as staffing allows. Self-service fee stations are available at all access sites and Elkhead reservoir.

Road Conditions - 5/22/2012

All river access roads are open at this time. There is road damage at the Maybell Bridge river site, use caution.

Seasonal Closures - 5/22/2012

The Visitor's Center is open for registrations, passes and general information from 8:00a.m. - 4:30p.m. All river sites are open at this time; there is road damage at the Maybell Bridge river site, please use caution.

Water Levels - 5/22/2012

Water levels are beginning to drop as the river has peaked for the season. For the most current Yampa River conditions please log on to our web site under river use and click on the streamflow data link.
