Pearls are a gift of nature and Pearl Lake State Park is just that.  Just a few miles off the road, it feels like an escape into the backcountry of Colorado.

While day use and the Yurts are open and available, camping at Pearl Lake will be unavailable until Spring of 2010 due to hazard tree mitigation efforts.  Please see the Conditions page on the left for more information.

 


 
Nestled in the mountains north of Steamboat Springs, this peaceful park sits in a quiet forest setting. Surrounded by mountains and trees, visitors camp along the lake and up a gentle hill.

There’s excellent fly and lure fishing for native cutthroat trout as they flash their red throats when pulled from the water. This is a true escape from the day-to-day routine.   A trail takes visitors along the shoreline and leads them deep into the forest.  Picnicking is picture perfect amongst the big trees that frame the lake. 

Camping at Pearl Lake

The campgrounds at Pearl Lake have been closed as of 10/16/2008 due to falling tree danger as well as logging projects.  The Yurts are open and will be open throughout the winter.

This is a major project where we will be removing trees killed by the Mountain Pine Beetle over the last several years.  We are not expecting to be able to open the Pearl Lake campground until Spring of 2010.  Click here for the most up to date information.  To make Yurt reservations (sites 6 and 16), please click here or call either 1-800-678-2267 or 303-470-1144.

Recreation at Pearl Lake

Voted one of America's top 25 canoeing spots for 2008 with a wakeless lake, and restricted to fly and lure fishing only, Pearl Lake offers a serene experience at the base of Farwell Mountain. 

Our wildlife viewing deck offers great views, and the chance to either look for critters or just sun yourself in the clean, quiet mountain air.  A meandering trail accesses thousands of acres of National Forest.

Winter offers a serene forest experience and spectacular views while skiing, snowshoing, or snowmobilling.
